Happy Vodka Honors Harvey Ball
C. J. Eiras and Happy Vodka Corporation are proud to honor the artist who created the original smiley face icon that we all now know and love. The Smiley face was created in Worcester, MA in 1963 by artist Harvey Ball. The Worcester Historical Museum is the keeper of many of Harvey's paper's, drawings and smiley memorabilia, which will now include an autographed Happy Vodka, Happy Rum & Happy Tequila Bottle to be inducted at the museum to be presented at the annual black tie banquet known as “The Harvey Ball” on October 12, 2007. At this years event the museum will be presenting the "Smile Award" to the Massachusetts Lt. Governor Timothy Murray, who grew up in Worcester & was most recently the Mayor of Worchester. The award was created to honor a Worcester resident who has made significant contributions to the community. The 2006 Harvey Ball drew 500 people and it is anticipated that 550 people will attend this years festivities.
Harvey Ball died at 79 years old in April of 2001 only four months prior to Eiras’ creation of the Happy Vodka product line. “I wish I had a chance to meet Mr. Ball, it would have been an honor and a privilege to shake the hand of the man who has made so many people in the world smile and feel good about the world.” says C. J. Eiras, President of Happy Vodka Corporation and Liquor Group Wholesale.
Happy Vodka also donated Martini glasses and other Happy Vodka, Happy Rum, Happy Tequila and Happy Gin memorabilia for the silent auction at the event to help raise money for the museum. Happy tries to make the world smile one bottle at a time with a slogan of: Don’t Worry…Drink Happy!TM The slogan at the Museum is: Celebrating the past to inspire the future... which is certainly apropos, as Happy Vodka’s very logo draws from an inspiration from the past and has created a bright future for many in the liquor industry!
