Liquor Group adds to Gordon & MacPhail Scotch Portfolio

Feb 16, 2007 – Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida: Florida based spirits distributor Liquor Group Florida announces the addition of 19 new items to its extensive portfolio of Single Malt Scotch Whiskies from Scotch Specialists Gordon & MacPhail of Elgin, Scotland. Gordon & MacPhail is the oldest and largest of the Independent Bottlers of scotch, having been in continuous operation since 1895, and now offers 140+ expressions from more than 70 distilleries in the U.S. market (almost 400 expressions are available in Europe). The new products include a just released 21 year old Portwood Finish from the Gordon & MacPhail owned Benromach distillery as well as new releases from diverse distilleries including Brora (1982 24yr), Convalmore (1984 21yr), Dailuaine (1993 13yr), Glen Grant (1958 44yr), Glen Keith (1967 38yr), Glenesk (1984 20yr), Glenury Royal (1972 30yr), Imperial (15yr Port Finish) and Tamnavulin (1991 14yr).

Matthew Chivian, CFO of U.S. importer Classic Wine Imports commented that "… the rapid increase in sales that Liquor Group has achieved for us in Florida was a major factor in making 2006 the best year our firm has had for the Gordon & MacPhail line and we look forward to even stronger results with the addition of these new products." Liquor Group Product Manager Lowell Newman pointed out that the new additions result in the distributor's total scotch portfolio "passing the 250 item mark … with the Gordon & MacPhail line making up the heart of this impressive array of whiskies, the largest scotch portfolio in the U.S., which range from 6 to 52 years in age." Gray Solomon, Liquor Group's Managing Member gives much of the credit for the firm's success with the Gordon & MacPhail line to the outstanding market support that the Scottish firm has provided. "Michael Urquhart, the Director of Gordon & MacPhail, whose grandfather joined Gordon & MacPhail in 1895, is on his second Florida Tasting Tour visit in only five months. We have a highly trained sales force, but the additional exposure that these events provide to The Gordon & MacPhail products in particular, and Single Malt Scotch in general, has made our job of generating sales significantly easier."

The new Gordon & MacPhail products should start appearing on retail shelves and in finer bars within the next few weeks. For more information on these products contact Liquor Group or your local retailer.
